Who is the Antichrist?
Is he a historical person come back from the dead?
(In response to a post on the forum.)
My grandfather used to say that the antichrist was Judas Iscariot come back back from the dead since both are called "The son of perdition."
A much better candidate than Cain, I think!Others have said that it will be Hitler come back!
However, I don't believe for a second that God will allow a literal historical person who has died in the past to come back again. (Oh yes, Nimrod also comes to mind, and maybe his wife Seramis too!)
But it seems much more plausible to me to think that it will be someone come in the character of all of the above wicked-ones and more!Just as John the Baptist came in the spirit and power of Elijah so will the coming false prophet come in the spirit and power of these wicked ones; and just as Jesus came as one like Moses "as Moses said, "One liken unto me," and so in like pattern will the antichrist come in the counterfeit spirit of Christ. But there is no need to think that antichrist will be some reincarnated or resurrected man from of old!
This holds true for the Two Witnesses of Rev. 11 as well. They both come in the spirit and power of Moses and Elijah --- as did Jesus and John (as said), but this does not require that they literally be them, or some other historical personage!
